Word of the month...Sprout

Ali Edwards has a wonderful blog that inspires me daily. At the beggining of the year she had a list of words to choose from that would describe what you wanted to accomplish in 2008. I have been choosing one new word each month and my word for this month is sprout! I found this big bag of corn in my dad's garage! I am choosing sprout because it is time for me to get out of the learning mode and intern mode and into the growing mode (as in paid!). Since I have selected my new word, I have had 2 new people contact me with job opportunities. Life is good!

A funny thing happened on the way to Lydia's play!

On Friday night, we went to see Lydia's play at Gustavus. A funny thing happened on the way to the forum was a play by Stephen Sondheim written in the 60's and is full of sexual overatures...very funny and immature! It was hilarious! Most of the girls drove down and we thought we had plenty of time for dinner. We went to Patricks on third in St. Peter for a burger, but they served us our food 10 minutes before we were supposed to be at the play! We scarffed the food down, popped some tums and high tailed it to the theather, where the manager was holding the entire performance for us! YIKES! Run!

Ther's a hole in my windshield dear Richard dear Richard!

There is a first time for everything and we know we are not in Southern California anymore when we got our first crack in the windshield. It started as a small nick from a rock, but with the subzero temperatures, the crack grows across the windshield! Bradley replaced it for us! Thanks Brad!

Sun Pillar?

I was up early today...as usual here at the Elliott house and spotted this amazing sunrise over the lake. I posted the shot at Flickr and Chris from Design Digitals replied with this about the streak of light coming up from the middle of the sun:

Is it a sun pillar - I'm not clever, just looked it up!From ‘Peterson Field Guides: Atmosphere’: The pillar is produce by thin hexagonal plates floating in the air with their largest dimension horizontal. The rays of the sun are reflected from the top surface of one to the bottom surface of another, reinforcing the rays in a vertical direction

Chris, thanks for the speedy quick look up of the 'Peterson Field Guide'. I love learning something new everyday!

Jack's mannequin

This little guy has been in our family for years. Jack takes the time each day to change the location and or pose of the mannequin. It is such a surprise to see what pose he'll be in each day.

And the Oscar goes to!

ME!!! Last year I was presented with an "Oscar" for all the fun I had in editing photos and video footage for the Scout troop. I helped the boys put together mini movies to show at the court of honor! They really surprised me by presenting me with not only the golden oscar complete with my name engraved, but those glam glam glasses too! I still have them if anyone wants to borrow them!

Thanks Ray for helping the boys put this together! XOXO
